Chocolate Chip Butter Cookies
This recipe came from a cookbook that I don't have anymore. I don't
know which one.
- 1 pound butter, softened (do not use margarine)
- 2 cups shifted powdered sugar
- .5 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoon vanilla
- 4.5 cups flour
- 12 oz pkg semi sweet chocolate chips (mini-chips work well)
In mixer, cream butter and 2 cups powdered sugar until fluffy. Add salt,
vanilla and flour until blended. Mixture will be stiff. Stir in chips and
blend well. Pinch off pieces of dough and roll into 1-inch balls. Place on
cookie sheet and flatten with a fork. Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes
(20 minutes when using an insulated cookie sheet.) Sprinkle with aditional
powdered sugar while hot.
